As the All Women’s Lobby Association, we visited the Cin Ali Museum in order to become more closely acquainted with Cin Ali, one of the iconic characters deeply rooted in the collective memory of Turkish culture. Having played an important role in the education and reading journeys of children across generations, Cin Ali offered participants both a nostalgic and cultural experience through this museum visit.

A Brief History of Cin Ali
Cin Ali is a character created in 1968 by Rasim Kaygusuz, best known for the reading books prepared especially for first-grade primary school students. Thanks to his simple illustrations, clear narration, and educational content, Cin Ali quickly reached a wide audience and became one of the first book heroes for millions of children learning to read and write in Türkiye. Designed in line with the educational approach of the period, the Cin Ali books aimed to help children develop reading habits. With their plain language and stories drawn from everyday life, they have earned a special place in the history of Turkish education. Over time, Cin Ali evolved beyond being merely a book character and became a cultural icon embedded in the collective memory of society.
Nostalgia and Cultural Memory
Within the scope of the museum visit, participants were provided with information about the emergence of the Cin Ali character, its place in the history of education, and the original works on display. Attendees had the opportunity to take a cultural journey from past to present and revisit cherished childhood memories.
The Cin Ali Museum visit was among our activities aimed at exploring and preserving our cultural values.
